In the last 5 years, 19 caves have been discovered in Antalya province

July 20, 2023

A new cave has been discovered in Antalya's Orman Mahallesi neighborhood of Ibrada district. Ahmet Ozturk, president of Hacettepe University Cave Research Society (HÜMAK), said: "Our team members who descended into the cave were amazed by the mesmerizing view. We named it 'Arabaly' (car cave) because of the old car seen at the bottom of the cave. The depth of the cave is about 40-50 meters. The length of the cave is not completely determined, as mapping work is still ongoing. At the moment we estimate that its length is about 70 meters."

In total, a total of 19 caves have been discovered in the Orman area over the past 5 years of exploration.
"First of all, we map the caves we have found and then hand them over to geologists for further study, as some of them have steep cliffs and grottoes," Ozturk said.
