The restoration of the Hereke carpet with an area of about 162 m2 has begun in Aksaray. In 1905, the carpet was presented to the Peace Palace in The Hague (Netherlands) by order of Sultan Abdulhamid II of the Ottoman Empire. Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nadir Alpaslan, who came to the Sultankhana area to discuss the progress of the work, said: "During the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II, the Ottoman Empire donated a magnificent Hereke carpet to the Peace Palace, the restoration of which we will start soon. It will be returned to the palace by renewing each loop according to the specifications of the year it was made. This unique carpet is one of the important examples reflecting the cultural wealth of Turkey. Therefore, it is extremely important and significant that the restoration was carried out in our country."
