Ramadan, the 9th month of the Hijri calendar, will begin in March 2024. The first day of Ramadan and the first fast will begin on Monday, March 11. Millions of Muslims will start fasting until Tuesday, April 9th. On Wednesday, April 10, the first day of Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated. Ramadan, the holy month in Islam, marks the period when, according to legend, the Koran, the holy book of Islam, was sent to the prophet. This month is determined by the lunar calendar, which leads to date changes every year. The month itself lasts from 29 to 30 days, and its beginning shifts by about eleven days per year due to the peculiarities of the lunar calendar. During this period, Islamic believers follow a number of rituals and traditions, including fasting and prayer. In connection with the Ramadan holiday, Wednesday, April 10, Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12, will be official days off, and Monday, April 8, will be a working day before lunch. In this regard, many citizens take time off on April 8 and 9 (Tuesday and Wednesday) at their own expense, thus receiving a vacation from April 6 to April 14.
